Recipe number 6. Wood ash
To prevent the occurrence of late blight on potato beds, a tablespoon of wood ash is necessarily added to the planting holes.
In season, it is useful to spray potatoes with an ash solution. It is prepared as follows: a liter jar of sifted ash and 20-30 grams of chopped laundry soap are added to 10 liters of water. The mixture is best applied with a broom, as the garden sprayer often clogs.
Recipe number 7. Infusion of horsetail
1-2 kg of freshly picked green horsetail is chopped into small pieces, filled to the top with a 10-liter bucket, and poured with clean cool water. After 3-4 days of infusion, the liquid is filtered off and the potato field is treated with a garden sprayer. Treatments are repeated every 7-10 days throughout the summer.
Recipe number 8. Trichopol
10 tablets of the drug are dissolved in 10 liters of water and potato plantings are sprayed every 10-14 days.
Recipe number 9. Compost tea
Such tea is prepared in an elementary way: 1 kilogram of garden compost and 1-2 tablespoons of urea are poured with 10 liters of water. The solution is kept undercover for 7 days with occasional stirring. Potato plantings are sprayed once every 10-14 days.
Recipe number 10. Non-woven covering material
Dew, which falls at night from the end of July, creates excess moisture in the growth zone of potato bushes. This is in the hands of late blight and from the second half of the summer, the infection begins to spread rapidly. To prevent such a nuisance, potato growers cover the night of planting with non-woven material (aggrotech, spun-bond, lutrasil, and so on). In the morning, the shelter is removed. This method is effective from dew, but will not protect the plants from the August rains.
Recipe number 11. Biological products
As a prophylactic for potato late blight, biological preparations based on beneficial microorganisms have proven themselves well. The most popular are Fitosporin M, Ridomill Gold MC, Thanos, Immunofitofit. Spraying is done every 7-14 days, depending on weather conditions.
Methods will allow you to successfully treat the initial stages of potato late blight and conduct effective prevention of infection. Let me remind you that all spraying is carried out in dry, calm weather, preferably early in the morning or at dusk. And check the forecast for precipitation in the coming days. Then preventive measures are better to postpone.
